APPLICATION PROCESSAfter you submit your application you will be contacted by our Investigation Committee for an interview. The interview will cover your back ground, department expectations and all your questions.
If you have any applicable state certifications you should bring copies to this meeting. Next the committee will order a back ground check.
Your application will then be presented with the committees findings for consideration at the next regular monthly meeting.
Once your application is accepted by the department you will be contacted by the Chief to schedule a physical. Once the physical results are provided to the Chief you may begin training and/or responding to emergencies.
For firefighters there is a minimum 6 month probationary period (apprenticeship). Apprentices who successfully complete training requirements will be considered for full membership by department vote.
Junior members who have completed at least 1 year may apply at age 18. Under 18? Consider joining the Middlebury Civil Defense, our Junior Corps.
